During the summer heatwave of 2018, I felt compelled to go and document some of the devastation being caused by wildfires in the UK. Amid one of the longest dry spells and hottest summers the UK had seen in decades and while across the globe fires raged. I had been feeling like I had been metaphorically witnessing Rome burn in the years that preceded, with the political landscape of the Western World and then it started literally happen.
In subsequent years we've seen this repeat and I've continued to document it. 2026 saw a record number of heat waves, drought and around 1000 wildfires.
